Tee hee!
So last week I got a brand new Intuos tablet! It's an A5 wide Special Edition to be precise. I chose that one because I wanted to have the airbrush without spending all that more money, and because let's face it, it's got a glossy black finish and it's super cool. It comes with different goodies compared to the American version - no Classic Pen, for instance, but it's got an airbrush - and it's got various interesting software.
I used to have a Graphire 4, and the difference shows. The Intuos is better pretty much in every aspect. Not only it's that much more sensitive, but the overall feeling is rather natural in comparison. The pen is is more robust and balanced in the hand, and the drawing surface is kind of softer and has more friction. It's not quite like drawing on paper, but it's a good progress from the hard plastic surface of the Graphire - and it is less prone to scratches from the pen. Even the drivers and side buttons are better. You can choose lots of custom commands for the lateral keys and the Touch Strip, but what's really cool is that you can change settings for every single application. So if you want to use one button, say, to Undo in every application, you can set it to Ctrl+Alt+Z in Photoshop and Ctrl+Z in Painter.
I was really satisfied with the control I have over Photoshop and Painter tool. In particular, the latter has lots of brushes that you can't really exploit if you don't have tilt sensitivity. But even normal brushes show a marked difference. It's great, every digital artist should have one of those!
